Man, what you just said there makes so much sense

except that i personally think that Gravemind is a forerunner that was
infected by the flood ans somehow survived the firing of the rings or something.

Now he seeks death and destruction(he is freakin bored after thousands of years of doing nothing) but the light(the flood "soul" he is infected with) cannot be killed so neither can he.

That doesnt acount for why he doesnt want the rings to be fired

-maybe he wants to die but doesn't want his little flug(yes i know) buddies to be harmed
