Something definitely warranted a strike force of 500 : ships. This is 2 times bigger than the Reach strike force, and 10+ times : larger than the Cote D'Azur force. Reach was a KNOWN human stronghold, : while Earth supposedly 'isn't' known to be harbor humans, yet they felt : the need to send massive fleet there before Regret did. What gives? That one is rather obvious, actually. We all know that the Prophets are major Ego-maniacs as well as believing their own retoric. With that noted it wouldn't be out of character for them to want to have as many witnesses as possible at the moment when they have their crowning achievement, that is to start the Great Journey. Just think the scene from Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark when the opened the Ark and burned the Nazi's.
