I think somewhere in First Strike, right after the battle with the Elite, doesn't MC think to himself that the Elite may have survived even those injuries? Its possible, we don't know where precisely he was shot, or what an Elite's internal anatomy is in the first place. We just know that if we shoot 'em a bunch they die. XD Besides, the wound was never stated to be mortal. It could have missed all the vital parts. The Elite MC fought, however, does indeed make sense as the "incompetent who lost Ascendant Justice." I mean, who else are they going to blame? Its a Covenant flagship, and all the other Elites on board die. There's only one survivor, this one Elite warrior. Who knows, perhaps black commando Elites can command ships? Or, it could be one hugeass mistake. Nylund and Bungie have made them before, especially concerning whether or not Elites were first encountered at Reach. (On a side note, it does irk me how Fred, Kelly, Will, etc. know all about Elites' active camo and honor system, even when they've supposedly never fought them. XD) |
