In Response To: Re: The Theory that Starts a NEW Discussion (Summa (King_Slug) : I did write a nice add-on to this theory but annoying it didn't seem to post
Hmmm, couldn't it also be the marines that you encounter towards the end of that level? Remember that large group of Marines that you find after you take the last elevator? That seems to make perfect sense to me, but this whole "MC goes back to 04" thing is quite tantalizing. I'm curious, have you seen the pelican glitch on this level? Right at the begining of the level (right as the pelican is about to drop you off), begin chucking plasma grenades like crazy. When executed properly, the pelican can take you somewhat close to where the Covenant are retreating. If you drop down in time, you can see that there are a bunch of assault rifles just floating in the air and firing at the Covies! Then the guns vanish into thin air. I don't think you can get to the elevator before its used however. Whoever is shooting at the Covies, we obviously weren't meant to see them. : Another thing I'm wondering
Not sure where you were going with this, but it seems like you're implying that the Marine had perhaps encountered the supposed group of Spartans or perhaps the other MC. : One problem with this theory, if it was the MC who was in the building before
Given the scenario that the MC and/or a group of Spartans were the ones shooting at the Covies, why doesn't anything change? If they were there, then they were there for a purpose. Whatever that purpose is/was, wouldn't it have something to do with changing the course of events that you play through in Halo? My question is, why does everything still go the way it would have gone (or the way it already went?) if the MC (the one you play as in the game) didn't know anything about the Flood, Halo, 343 GS? Don't you think something would have been different as a result of whatever actions these mysterious shooters took? The events in Halo are established as the original events that took place (I presume this to be the case since Halo is destroyed before anyone encounters the time warping object on Reach). But if those individuals shooting at the Covies were indeed a group of Spartans (with/without MC), then wouldn't that mean that what you play through in Halo is merely one loop in this whole time loop thing? Why else would they be there? A possible answer I just thought of: what if those were Spartans, but their presence there had nothing to do with time warping? In this case, the core of Metatron's theory (time travel) might not apply. However, his theory as to the whereabouts of those 30 "dead" Spartans, Dr. Halsey's motives, and that S-III file would definitely still apply. What if Halsey already knew about Halo? It doesn't seem that improbable to me considering that we have no clue as to how many black op's Halsey has been involed in, or how long ONI has known about the Covenant. She could have had her 30 dead Spartans go to Halo to do something. Exactly what, I really don't know. One possible hole in this scenario could be this: if Halsey knew about Halo, then why did she wait until the events that transpired in the game to send her Spartans on that mission? In order to begin to answer that question, we would have to know how long Halsey has known about Halo, and, perhaps more importantly, what she knew about Halo prior to the events of the game. Other questions: how did Halsey communicate with the Spartans if she was basically stuck underneath Reach while the MC was fighting the Flood on Halo? Where were the Spartans prior to being on Halo? How did these Spartans manage to infiltrate and exfiltrate the structure without coming into contact with the other Marines? Did Halsey know about the events that took place during the game as they were occuring? If so, how? I think that its important to remember that the theory that makes the most sense regarding the identity of those mysterious shooters is that they were the Spartans you encounter toward the end of the level, as I mentioned above. One problem with this theory, however (and as pointed out by King_Slug), is that there don't seem to be any human casualties in that battle with the Covenant. What seems even more puzzling to me is that the Covies are actually running away from these shooters. Why would so many of them just run away from a group of about 4/5 Marines? So many questions, so little answers... |
