I think the problem most people are having isn't in the plot theory or book relation, but in the time travel ideas and order. I've been up all night reading all these posts and it seems people always get caught up in the, "but wouldn't that scew this up in the future?", concept.

The thing, I think, people need to realize to understand this theory is that your not playing the games in chronilogical order, but in the order MC has seen them. To explain: When you play Halo:CE you are in the time that has already been affected by Halo 2. There will be no changes to what happened in H:CE. YOU, will just get to play the experiences of MC that make all of Halo:CE possible.

My theory is, that you will not be changing or doing anything to the story in that part of the game, but just revealing what happened. Later in the game you will be doing things that have not been done, due to a time distortion.

On another note, I have a few things that have not been addressed in this theory that may be...theorized...upon...

It seems the crystal has it's own goal or agenda. It warped time to bring the chief back to Reach to rescue it.(or did it?) It may not be trying to save itself, but instead have a goal for the master chief. Which makes it possible for the crystal to not bend time to save itself from Locklear, and in effect let itself die, having fulfilled it's purpose. Thus, ending the time loop theory. Just speculation. The crystal does appear to have some type of goal though otherwise the time distortion would be random and have nothing to do with MC or Reach or Halo for that matter.

Another thing I wanted to speculate upon is Kelly, and her ability to control the Wraiths in H:FS (p.113). If the MC has a foggy memory(like an epiphony) from having visited halo before(and possibly being taught by Cortana how to use the controls) and Fred and Kelly also have these senses it could mean that they too have also been to halo or had been taught by Cortana's new found covenant data. This makes me curious about Dr. Halsey's possible mission with Kelly.Though the timing doesn't exactly work out with Kelly having been shipped off on the 13th of September as well as MC and Fred leaving for Earth later that day, and the wraith incident happening almost a half month before on the 30th of August. This may point out that the spartans or humans have a connection with the forerunners of it may lead to another time/space effect of the crystal.
