Excellently done. No doubt. Here are a couple of questions regarding the theory - answers could support or conflict with this theory.
1. What was the second betrayal? I've always wondered this and have never heard a good explanation (until this theory).
2. Why else go through all the trouble of talking about the artifact and its time-warping abilities in the book? And I mean pretty strong scientic detail, not just junk sci-fi stuff. Don't say for sh*ts and grins either.
3. Which is harder to believe...that 343GS talks to the MC like he knows him because he met GS a few days earlier, or that GS recognizes MC because he's decendent from a race that died out over 100,000 years ago (humans as forerunner theory)?
4. The return of the MC to Halo and Dr. Halsey raises an interesting thought...who really released the flood? There's been all kinds of debate regarding this, with theories that it was other humans, the covenant, etc. If Dr. Halsey had to betray everyone she loved, maybe she was going to Halo to get something from where the flood was contained. She knew that by getting whatever this thing was, she would release the flood and kill so many. There's also been some debate as to what the covenant were actually searching for. While most believe they were looking for the index, I now believe it was something else. The covenant knew the flood were in Halo - shouldn't they have been able to avoid them?
5. How would Dr. Halsey know she should go back to Halo for this magic "something"? She would somehow have to logically deduce this, and I can't think of anything in the books that alluded to something of superfly importance on Halo other than the index.
6. Is there another explanation for the time discrepencies regarding the end of FS and the Halo game? I initially put this off as a fluke of bad editing, but now that seems foolish.
Whew....what a nicely written, original, and well-presented theory.
