A fun idea but you forgot its "local years"

A good point, it would be fun if the last firing of Halo was the cause of the last Mass extinction on earth. But the problem is wiping out life in the past is it creates a whole bunch a temporal paradoxes and food would have time to replenish by the present. An easier way to have this happen is to perhaps assume that a local year for Threshold is about 650 years, a bit long (over 2 and a half times Pluto’s year) but believable.
