In Response To: The Theory of Everything (for Halo, at least) (yakaman)
: I think it is a generally accepted theory that humans are the forerunner,
: that roughy 100,000 years ago Halo 4 was triggered to stop a flood
: outbreak, and that 343 GS was around to watch it happen. Further, it is
: generally accepted that destroying the Flood's food source means the end
: of all life large enough and/or sentient enough to support the Flood.
: IF the above are assumed to be true, and because Bungie really seems to like
: to create a realistic set of events to get from here to there in their
: stories, there must be a way to explain how, in roughly 100,000 years not
: only one, but multiple sentient life forms could evolve when all large
: and/or advanced life forms had been completely wiped out.
: It took roughly 60 million years for small mammals to evolve into primates.
: Depending out which human evolution theory you ascribe to, it took roughly
: 4 million years for humans to split off from other primates and become who
: we are. Finally, of those 4 million years, it took 3.95 million for the
: human brain to become as it essentially is now. What I'm trying to show is
: that it is highly improbable that humans, grunts, hunters, prophets,
: elites, brutes, jackals, and god knows what else we haven't heard about
: would all be able to spring forth from the muck naturally in 100,000
: years.
: So here is the theory: Flash back to 100,000 years ago...the Forerunner, the
: most advanced civilization in the galaxy, are engaged in a desperate
: battle with the flood. Desperate because the Flood has overrun almost
: everything else in the entire galaxy...or soon will. They have studied the
: flood and have come to understand that there is no stopping them, that
: inevitibly, all sentient life in the galaxy will be assimilated into the
: flood, marking the end of intelligent life in the galaxy for eternity.
: They begin building the Halos, fortress worlds where they can study the
: flood. Of course, the Halos have a second, darker purpose - they can wipe
: out all life in the galaxy and kill the flood.
: Incredibly advanced and enlighted, but understanding their dire
: responsibility, the Forerunner decide to trigger the Halos. Before doing
: so, they sample the DNA from all of the sentient races in the
: galaxy...including the races seen in the covenant. Halo's weapon is
: triggered, with 343GS watching...you can almost imagine the last
: forerunner asking 343GS if he would do any different in the same
: situation. 343 GS comes to the same conclusiion some 100,000 years
: later...yes, he too would wipe out all life in the galaxy to save it.
: Some short period after Halo is triggered, "seed pods" are sent out
: from Halo for destinations on former worlds of occupation. Grunt DNA seeds
: are sent to their methaned-atmosphered world....prophet DNA seeds are sent
: to their former homeworld, and the forerunner DNA seed pod is sent to a
: little blue planet in a solar system we know well.
: Arguments?
