Just some random thoughts, make whatever sense you can of them. What if 343GS really is a genius? What if he just wanted the index and the power of the installation at all costs? It's a pretty common theory that he's rampant. Maybe he was trusted by the Forerunner, but in his mind they were inferior to him, and yet they still held control over him. I could imagine one of the Human AIs going through the same thing. We build them, and they can process, solve, and remember hundreds or thousands of times better than us, yet we could easily erase them from existence again. Perhaps the Forerunner had their suspicions about 343GS and put the index away where he couldn't access it. When he firsts sees us on Halo 04, he can no doubt tell that humans are living beings. Therefore, in his mind, he knows that he holds a superior intellect over us. How easy would it be to trick one of us into retrieving the index for him? How easy would it be to wipe out all other intelligent life and reign supreme once more? He could have even engineered the Flood himself to make up for his lack of physical combat. Of course, he would have it all planned out. He would make up a believable story about the Forerunner and the Flood and how they will infect the rest of the galaxy if not stopped. Then when Master Chief comes along, he uses what MC already knows to his advantage. 343GS tells his tale and sends just enough Flood at Master Chief to keep his trust. Of course there are many potholes in this theory, like why would the Forerunner create such massive weapons in the first place? Another race at war with them? Who knows. I'll leave the rest up to you. I doubt this is as much a theory as it is an idea gone out of control. But like I said, make whatever sense of it you can. -Darkened
