It's unlikely that we're going to see a halo magically change its size to fit on something, or see anything change its size to fight into halo. It just seems to magical, and Halo the game doesn’t seem like it’s going to start having magical stuff in it.
So something that would “wear” a halo it would have to be close to the same size as halo, such as a moon (or a ship like the Unyielding Hierophant). If a moon "wears" halo. When I mean "wears" i mean that the moon isn’t wearing halo for its good but that halo would using the moon for its own purposes even though halo is the one being worn.
All that got me thinking why put a moon called basis that roughly fits inside of halo near halo? Why? Then it hit me in Halo you go to shut off 3 generators, which would prevent 343 GS firing the weapon, but those generators seem awful small to power such a BIG POWERFUL weapon.
So where's all that power coming from?
Basis that’s where. It's really just a GIANT Generator! When Basis "wears" halo, halo is able to use the power from it. So those 3 generators that we shut off were just for moving halo into position around the moon.
This all brings up another theory, which would explain how halo is more than just a weapon.
The Crystal on Reach creates a Big Bubble in slip space that likely with enough power could expand to fit a moon wearing a halo. Then using the Halo-Moon combination to pump a ton of energy into that bubble, you could travel through space (maybe even time) to very distant Galaxies and to where ever the forerunners went.
