What if our AI's are part of Forerunner technology. The Forerunners left us AI's, either, say, on a Planet, or in our genetics to discover and create. These would greatly aid us, and the UNSC is highly dependant on the AI's. So what if the Prophets really want the AI's, not only for the location of Earth, but to then incorporate them and use them against other species. The only thing Humans got going for us is our intrusion software and AI's. That was the area that they lacked the most, and still do, with Cortana able to infiltrate their systems quite easily and take down their AI's. I think that the Covenant somehow copied 343GS and that the AI on the Acsendant Justice was a copied Guilty Spark. This means that the Covenant have no AI's, giving them the need to get them, especially when they learn they are all corrupt. The Prophets, if they were in fact given to us by the Forerunners, would feel that they are Holy Relics and that they deserve to be with the Covenant, and not these vermin. The Prophets say we're evil to spur on the Grunts and such to fight, when really they want our AI's.
-Just a quick thought: In Halo:The Flood(forget which page, pretty early I think), an Elite is talking to a Prophet and he says, "Our spies indicate..." blah blah blah. What spies? It's unlikely a Human would betray their entire race, and it's hard to sneak a Covenant soldier into an entire planet full of enemies(Yes there are Camo Elites, but how would they get past retinal scanners and guards?). So the only alternatives are AI's. I think Beowulf or Araquiel are traitors. Just a thought.
