Well, play with us as you will Eric Trautmann, hehe (BTW you rock).
It may be nothing, but the name Araqiel is associated with a fallen angel, and known for of all things to have taught human beings the signs of the earth. Now I got two meanings for the signs fo the earth, one was geology, but the other was husbandry. The husbandry meaning seems to go along with the fact that in Halo: First Strike, the AI Araqiel is guarding the Spartan DNA files.
As far as the role of fallen angels in mythology, it seems that they mated with human women, and frequently. Whether that is a clue to the origins of humans in the Halo universe or just grasping at anything that sounds good, I don't know yet, but since fallen angels were often referred to as demons in writings, that would be consistent with the Covenant's view of humanity. In other words, if we were partly the decendants of fallen angels in the eyes of the Covenant, we would could be called demons too. There's even theory that the offspring of the fallen angels would have been giants (very tall humans). Kind of reminds me of the story of David and Goliath, where did Goliath come from anyway?
Another tie in that may be just grasping at straws is that the fallen angels were also known before as "Watchers" or "Guardians." Coincidence that the Guardians can kill you in multiplayer? But then again, other angels were known as Guardians also, particularly the concept of guardian angel.
Kalmiya, another AI mentioned in First Strike, is an angel prince who has authority, with six other princes, of guarding the gate or the so-called veil of the seventh heaven. Among the other angel guardians were Gabriel and Sandalphon (of course I like Gabriel, for personal reasons, not only because he was an Archon... FF, lol).
All I can say is that, that if Halo story follows the names, then Kalmiya will end up being a protector or guardian of sorts.
Well again, I feel I'm only grasping at straws. I think I'm looking at a small patch of ice floating in the ocean, not even realizing that that small patch is really the top of a enormous iceberg.
