Another definition of threshold:

Could this mean that Halo could be some gate to another world? Maybe the Heavens? The Flood, as someone posted here, could refer to the Great Flood in the bible. Maybe Halo is a gate to the Flood, where the Flood comes from, and it it's purpose is, using the sentance givin up there, the threshold of a new age.
Or maybe the Covenant, if Halo is a gateway to the Flood, found this out. Maybe this is the weapon they were talking about. So if they figure out how to control Halo, they control the Flood and it's movements. Then they could use this to send the Flood to destroy human life, or all life except theirs for that matter.
What's the purpose of that little robot guy [forgot his name] who wanted to activate Halo and end all organic life in the universe? Any symbolism there? Maybe the Devil?
