*Snrk* New here, ain't ye? The folks at Bungie have crafted a very interesting story to go along with their game. There are LOTS of people who care about this kind of stuff. If nothing else, the storyline keeps Halo from feeling like yet another button-masher. It *is* one, sorta, but all the elements are so well done that it inspires awe and excitement instead of yawns. Jason Jones calls it (kinda rambly, but reasonably well, in the "Making Of" documentary from Film Oasis) the difference between feeling like you're roaming around an alien artifact and feeling like you're finishing a level in some stupid game. (Of course I'll add in the rider that intelligent use of tactics will make Halo's gameplay much more rewarding, unlike many games out there, due to some excellent implementation of design.) -- Steve | |
