I think your idea is very good. Here are some ideas to support your theory.
In the Bungie Legendary walkthrough, Evil Otto writes, "Aim for the arms of the combat forms that have the threshing tentacles on them." Threshing tentacles? Perhaps in this case it is a typo or meant to be synonymous with thrashing. Or perhaps its a piece of the Tru7h.
Let's not forget the gas giant Threshold. Back in ye olde days, thresh was used on the floor of homes basically like carpet. One vestige of this old pracitice is still with us today. Houses have a long bump on the floor in their doorway. This is a threshold, it was used, back in ye olde days, to make sure that the thresh in the house stayed in and wasn't swept outside.
