Perhaps the hesitation stems from the way the human mind works. In other words, the hesitation is there because we must have a "why" to the reason. We ignorantly thought that Halo would, in it's effect, directly destroy the Flood. Certainly the cause is there, but after learning the full purpose of the ringworld, the effect it would have leaves us pondering the "why". Hence, hesitation. I dunno either. :S Surrept
