The way the general design tends to be swept back in an aerodynamic fashion towards the camera gives a clear indication that it is facing away from us. The active blue jets are facing down and slightly out which gives an indication of maneuvering/hovering jets. I would say all of the rear facing holes are the jets for forward movement, none of which are active. So I would guess that this ship is either landing or taking off. Also the 2 marines in the original picture seem to be taking positions that might indicate covering a landing or launch. The "airplaneish" design of the ship as well as the attitude of the marines on the ground (both have there backs turned to the ship) suggest that this is a human vessel of some kind. All of the covenant technology so far has usually had more organic lines to the design.
