Yeah, but they have openings in the front and back, don't they? So this might still be the front end of the ship. I doubt they're scramjets, though. Unless it's got a nice frictionless forcefield, this ship is about as aerodynamic as a capybara; I don't think it's designed to go supersonic except perhaps in near-vacuum, where scramjets would be much less effective. Although I suppose it could be one of those hyper-advanced ships Clarke likes to write about, which are just so dang powerful that they blithely ignore things like air resistance and large mountains in their paths. --SiliconDream | |
