Consider Phlebas

Bleh. It starts out rather well, but after that it just... I dunno. I didn't like it. If you're into Halo... there's really no reason to read "Consider Phlebas" by Iain Banks. There's a brief ringworld (or "Orbital") scene and if you use your imagination their suits *could* look like the Halo marine's armor (though the descriptions don't match). The book seems about 200+ pages too long and needlessly tragic (if you actually cared about any of the characters to begin with)... a lot like an opera (though I actually *like* opera). Anyways, if you're looking for Halo-related scifi to read, "Consider Phlebas" gets a thumbs down. Niven's "Ringworld" scores much better. The fansub "Spriggan" anime is also recommended. I guess I'll pick up Starship Troopers....
