I checked all the interesting default fonts on Mac OS 8.6 with all characters including those accessed with shift, option and option+shift... nothing of note. Except a "c" in wingdings. I know I have seen this symbol in relation to this puzzle.. but I can't remember where and there are just too many posts now to find out.
