Ya the summation idea is good...except for one thing. i don't think [ was used as a math symbol but as an actual ancient numeral....and only on rare occations. This is way some of us are looking to other sources. But another way to confirm the value of the [ symbol is by the Unicode hex value of 228F which is found on one of the mentioned web pages. Do you or anyone know this value?
