Claude a while ago hinted that 5 wasn't a letter in a language. Someone had asked him if it was a Greek letter and he responded (more or less) "you're not only in the wrong ballpark, you're in the wrong friggin' city" Make of that what you will... but I tend to think he's saying 5 isn't any sort of letter or language related symbol....
