I stood in the subway all night, waiting for 'her'

Reads pretty straightforward.

Foreman - the guy in charge. The glyphs are our 'directions' handed to us by the foreman?

bright glasses... bright glasses.... bright glasses... WHAT DOES THAT MEAN!??
Both "tubulae" and "elle" are french. Or I should say that "tubulae" comes up on french pages when searched in Google. It even comes up in other english pages, but interestingly it doesn't come up in dictionary.com. Weird.
Tubes... so each glyph might be entrances to tunnels? We're looking at the mouth of a set of tunnels?
Tubular bells? Musical notes? Treble clef again?
Dammit, I'm trying to adhere to KISS, but it's so frikkin' hard!
Claude sez that we're practically 'stepping on it', so that means that buried SOMEWHERE on this forum is the answer. So what is it?
Someone want to take a swing at summarizing all the various theories here? I know that Hip and I have been trying to do just that, but as you can imagine, it's a little overwhelming :)
Elle is also a singer or band?

Chelsea points out mnemesis' own post about the rooms/locks...

The corresponding parts from each dial go together to form three seven-part 'answers' - the center glyphs go together and the outer numbers combine to form two more parts (?). I'm not sure about the outer numbers, but there seems to be room for a lot of information in them, and this scenarion would match up with the "seven steps, three rooms" clue.
As far as the stacking idea goes, I don't think the "Contact" method would work here, as there doesn't seem to be anything that relates the outer numbers from one dial to another.
- still frustrated :)
